We are reaching the final stages of planning for our newest pasture expansion. The plan is to fence about 100 acres of newly harvested land in order to relieve some of the pressure on our front two pastures. We recently met with our NRCS agent who has approved our plans and given us the go ahead. The land is rough though, and getting a fence through will be a challenge. We will keep you updated!
<---Here is the inital outline of the fencing project. The red is the proposed fenceline, the black our property line. The fence curves to avoid important watersheds on the property, keeping the cows at least 50' away from them. We also avoided timber harvesting in these areas.
Eventually, this huge pasture will be sectioned into smaller 10 acre pastures for the rotational grazing system. Here, cows will spend 7-10 days before being rotated to the next pasture, allowing grass to rest and recover.
